Day 28 – The Lion’s Boldness
Scripture: The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1
Devotional Reflection
Fear is a thief. It creeps in when you’ve done wrong, when you’re hiding something, or when guilt whispers louder than God’s truth. That’s why Solomon says the wicked flee even when no one is chasing them. Their own conscience is the pursuer.
But the righteous, those walking, surrendered, and anchored in God carry a different spirit. They don’t run. They stand. They roar. Like a lion, they exude courage not because life is easy, but because their confidence is rooted in who is backing them.
Think of Daniel in the lion’s den. It wasn’t that Daniel had no fear; it was that righteousness made him bold. His trust in God silenced fear’s chase. The lions couldn’t devour him because he already belonged to the Lion of Judah.
Psychologically, guilt breeds paranoia, while integrity produces freedom. When you’re righteous, your heart is unburdened, your mind clear, your spirit strong. You don’t waste energy dodging shadows you walk forward, bold, secure, and unashamed.
When sin is your master, fear is your shadow. But when Christ is your Lord, boldness is your identity.
Application
- Reflect: Am I running from something I’ve done or resting in the boldness of God’s covering?
- Take one step today that requires courage: speak truth, make a decision, or confront fear.
- Anchor your confidence not in perfection, but in Christ’s righteousness working in you.
Prayer: Lord, make me bold as a lion. Continually give me strength to cast down guilt, shame, and fear from my heart. Help me walk in integrity, trusting that righteousness gives me the courage I need. Let my confidence come not from me, but from You, the Lion of Judah. Amen.
Righteousness silences fear; integrity fuels boldness.
Don’t run from shadows today, stand like a lion in the light.
