Day 19 – You’re One Step Away from Regret
Proverbs 19:2 (NLT) Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.
Read this slowly:
Most people don’t ruin their life in one big decision.
They ruin it one fast decision at a time.
It’s the job you take without praying.
The relationship you commit to without counsel.
The words you speak without thinking.
We live in a culture that worships quick: quick replies, quick results, quick wins. But God doesn’t operate on the timer of our impulses. He is patient enough to wait for the right season and wise enough to know that the wrong timing can ruin the right thing.
Think of Moses.
In his youth, he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew. His passion for justice flared, and without stopping to seek God, he killed the man (Exodus 2:11–12).
Was his passion wrong? No.
Was his timing wrong? Absolutely.
That single hasty choice cost him forty years in the wilderness before he was ready for his real assignment.
Here’s the hard truth:
If the enemy can’t tempt you with evil, he’ll push you into good things at the wrong time. And the wrong time is the wrong thing.
Personal Application:
- Before making a big decision, pause and pray until peace settles in your spirit.
- Ask someone who loves God and loves you enough to tell you the truth.
- Remember: a “no” today could be God’s “yes” tomorrow.
Prayer: Lord, slow my steps when my heart races ahead. Protect me from the damage of haste, and give me the discipline to wait for Your timing—even when it’s uncomfortable. Amen.
Heart Reminder: “The enemy doesn’t just rush you into sin he rushes you into anything that keeps you from God’s best.”
