Day 7 – The Power of Your Words

Proverbs 7:21 (NLT) “So she seduced him with her pretty speech and enticed him with her flattery.”

Devotional Reflection: Words shape worlds. They persuade, deceive, heal, divide, or restore.

In Proverbs 7, Solomon tells a vivid story of a young man overtaken not by force, but by flattery. He wasn’t dragged away he was talked into his own downfall. The woman’s words were smooth, but her path led to destruction.

The enemy still uses this tactic today. He doesn’t just confront you he seduces you. With half-truths. Twisted logic. Self-justification that sounds like confidence but reeks of compromise. And often, it’s not just others’ words it’s the inner dialogue you entertain.

Think of Eve in the Garden. The serpent didn’t strike he spoke. “Did God really say…?” The fall of humanity began not with a bite, but with a conversation. And in that moment, Eve’s future was shaped not by what she saw, but by what she believed through someone else’s words.

Words matter. Not just what you say but what you listen to, rehearse, agree with, and speak over your life. Every sentence is either an invitation to wisdom or a doorway to deception.

Personal Application:
What words am I allowing to shape my thoughts?
Have I made peace with voices that are leading me to compromise?
Do my words lead others closer to God or closer to confusion?

Every time you open your mouth or your ears you’re building something. Just make sure it’s not a trap.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, teach me to guard my ears and watch my words. Expose every seductive lie I’ve entertained spoken by others or whispered in my mind.

Make me a person whose voice carries truth, not flattery. Give me wisdom to discern the sound of deception and boldness to speak life even when silence would be easier. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Rooted Truth: “Not every voice deserves your agreement. Some words plant lies others protect destiny.”
